1. History of the school. Period of activity

The scientific school was established as a result of many years of joint scientific activity of teachers and researchers of the Department of Automation of Mining Industry (AGP) and its successor, the Department of Automation of Electrical Complex Control (AEMK) – the name (from 1999 to 2021) of the Department of AGP.

The first head of the UCP department (1967–1973) was Ph.D., Assoc. AHEM. Янчук. From 1973 to 2006 the department was headed by Dr. Sc. Professor VM Chermalykh, from 2006 to the present the department is headed by Ph.D. Professor VP Rosen.

During the existence of the department teachers and researchers of the department perform research work, combined with a common direction: optimization of control of complex electromechanical systems and complexes and technological processes with adjustable electric drive on the basis of energy efficiency. The scientific school covers various areas in the field of control theory, namely – mathematical, software, technical, informational, organizational and legal support of electromechanical systems.

Scientists of the school perform research work in a new area of ​​research – the development of national standards in the field of management of industrial facilities on the basis of energy efficiency. The period of the school’s activity is from 1973 to the present.

2. Characteristics of the school

The purpose of the school is to improve the training of specialists and scientific personnel on the basis of the conducted scientific researches and modern achievements of science and technology.

 Scientific research was conducted within the state budget topics and under agreements with customer companies: IGM. Fedorova (Donetsk), DonVUGI (Donetsk), VNDIelectronmash (St. Petersburg), NDIAchermet (Dnepropetrovsk), GUA (Moscow), VNIIvugol (Moscow), IGD them. Skochinsky (Moscow).

After gaining independence of Ukraine in 1991, scientists of the AEMK department cooperate with domestic research institutes of KNDU “NDIROM” (Kyiv), SE “UkrNDNC” (Kyiv), the Gas Institute of the NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv), as well as with the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety,

Scientists of the school perform scientific work on the tasks of the institutes of the NAS of Ukraine, the Academy of Energy of Ukraine, the Academy of Civil Engineering of Ukraine, as well as line ministries of Ukraine: Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, State Energy Efficiency of Ukraine.

The results of research are widely used in the educational process and scientific work of computers in specialized laboratories “Modeling of electromechanical systems”, “Electromechanics”, “CAD”, “Intelligent software control systems”.

3. The founders of the school

The founder of the school is the head of the department of automation of control of electrical complexes (1967–1973), Ph.D. Sciences, Prof., Academician of the AIN of Ukraine Chermalykh VM

4. Scientific schools

Chermalykh VM – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the AIN of Ukraine, since 1973 Head of the Department, a well-known specialist in the field of automated control and optimization of complex electromechanical systems.

The main scientific directions of research of Prof. VM Chermalykha – optimization of electric drive control with semiconductor converters and microprocessor devices; fuzzy-control of complex electromechanical complexes with multichannel mastering models; optimization of dynamic modes of electromechanical systems with distributed elastic links on the basis of his proposed method of boundary elastic connections. Author of more than 250 publications, including 38 copyright certificates for inventions. Prof. V.M. Chermalykh is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals and two Councils for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations. From 1978 to 2000 he was a member of the section of the Committee on State Awards of Ukraine. Under his leadership, 34 graduate students defended their dissertations, including 7 – citizens of foreign countries (Germany, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Russia).

Rosen VP – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of AEU, Academician of ABU, Head of the Department of Automation of Control of Electrical Complexes 2006 to present. Since 2021, the department is called Automation of electrical and mechatronic complexes

. The main direction of scientific activity is energy management of electrical and energy systems and efficient use of electricity by electrical complexes.

Prof. Rosen VP author of more than 360 scientific papers, including 17 monographs, 14 textbooks, 34 national standards of Ukraine and CIS standards, 4 guiding technical materials on energy efficiency.

Prof. Rosen VP participated in the development of 4 sections of the Comprehensive State Energy Saving Program of Ukraine and the Comprehensive Energy Saving Program of Khmelnytsky region, the Program of popularization and training of the population of Ukraine in the field of energy saving, “Energy audit system implementation program in Ukraine”.

Under the leadership of Rosen VP 12 postgraduate students defended their dissertations, including 6 postgraduate students of NTUU KPI. Igor Sikorsky, 1 – Odessa, 2- Lutsk, 1 – Cherkasy Technical Universities, 1 – Kremenchug National University and 1 – Dnieper Mining University.

Rosen VP is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals (Riga Polytechnic, Kremenchug University) and the specialized council for the defense of PhD theses of Vinnytsia National Technical University, a member of the scientific and technical council of NAER “Standardization in the field of energy saving”.

Rosen VP expert on the implementation of energy management systems and the development of draft regulations on the implementation of state policy on energy efficiency.

He completed internships in Germany, Great Britain and Denmark. He is a certified lecturer of the European Community of Energy Management and

certified lecturer of the European Business Planning Community in the field of energy saving. Teaches courses: “Automated control systems and information processing”, “Economic evaluation of engineering decisions”, etc.

Lebedev LM – Ph.D., Associate Professor. The most important scientific results have been obtained in the field of development of control systems for the process of grinding non-metallic materials. For the first time, a control and forecasting system for the components of the factor field for controlling the grinding process according to the criterion of energy efficiency has been proposed. Investigation of fractal features of lattice structures of technological information signals.

Assoc. Lebedev LM participated in the development of the Methodology of Ecological Safety Management of Kyiv, the development of rules for assessing the state of the territory and the establishment of limit levels of environmental safety of the regions, as well as the Program for the utilization of plant waste in Kyiv. 

Assoc. Lebedev LM has more than 70 scientific publications, 60 copyright certificates for inventions, 2 national standards of Ukraine. Assoc. Prof. Lebedev LM conducts classes on the following courses: “Systems for monitoring energy flows of electrical systems”, “Control and regulation systems for thyristor converters”, “Elements of automated electric drive”, etc.

Permyakov VM – Ph.D., Associate Professor. Scientific activity is connected with the development of a new valve motor system based on an asynchronous machine with a phase rotor. Associate Professor Permyakov VM is the author of more than 30 scientific and methodical printed works.

Associate Professor Permyakov VM conducts classes on courses; “Automation of production processes”, “Fundamentals of electric drive”, “Electric drive of machines and installations”.

Tishevich BL – Ph.D., Associate Professor. He took part in research work performed at the department on the development of multi-purpose mine manipulators, automation of lifting installations. With his participation, an industrial design of the lifting control system with a digital-analog speed programming unit was created.

Tishevich BL is the author of 18 printed works and has 2 copyright certificates for inventions.

In the educational process, associate professor Tyshevych BL conducts classes on courses: “Modeling of electromechanical systems”, “Theory of automatic control”, “Microprocessor devices”.

Chermalykh OV – Ph.D., Associate Professor. He took part in the development and implementation of ACS with powerful rotor systems. From 1995 to 1996 he worked as a senior researcher. in OJSC KATEK-NDIvugol (Russian Federation). During this period he managed the scientific topic “Creation of a system for computer debugging of electric drives of rotary excavators.” In 1995-99 he worked as an associate professor at the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Nonferrous Metals and Gold (Russian Federation). Since 2000 – Associate Professor of IEE NTUU “KPI”. He has 55 printed works, including 9 copyright certificates for inventions. Teaches the course “Automation of electric drive control of machines and installations”

Mortgage OM – Ph.D., Associate Professor. The main direction of scientific activity is the creation and implementation of technical means of energy saving in industry and utilities on the basis of adjustable AC drive. Under the leadership of Mortgage OM together with VNDIelectromash (St. Petersburg) and NPO Miaselektroaparat (Mias) an adjustable electric drive with valve motors of the ZDVU series for machines and robots was created.

Associate Professor Zakladny OM is the author of more than 80 scientific and educational publications, of which 7 – copyright certificates for inventions, 18 guidelines for students. In 2001 he published two textbooks: “Energy saving by means of industrial electric drive” and “Automation of production processes in the mining industry” (co-authored).

Mortgage OM is the head of scientific work of postgraduate students. Teaches courses “Automated electric drive”, “Energy saving in the electric drive”, “Synthesis of electronic devices”.

Altukhov EI – Ph.D., associate professor, specialist in the field of automation of hoisting and transport installations. Author of about 40 printed scientific papers, has 5 copyright certificates for inventions.

Associate Professor Altukhov EI conducts classes on the courses: “Theory of automatic control”, “Automation of installations and complexes of mining enterprises”. Since 1998 – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mining, KPI, and then Deputy Director of the IEE for Social Affairs.

He taught at the University of Algeria for several years.

5. Training of scientific personnel

During the period of the school’s activity 3 doctoral dissertations were defended: Rodkin D.Y. (Head of the Department of Kremenchug State Polytechnic University); Nazarenko VM (Head of the Department of Kryvyi Rih Technical University); Isaev EA (Professor of Kursk State Technical University). Ph.D. Rodkin prepared Dr. Sc. Black OP

47 candidate dissertations were defended. Among the graduate students who defended their dissertations, 14 were citizens of Ukraine, 7 were citizens of Russia, Syria, Algeria, Germany, and Jordan.

The areas of scientific activity of the school in recent years include:

  • development of theoretical bases of optimal control of electromechanical systems of cyclic action (lifting machines, single-bucket and multi-bucket excavators, multi-purpose manipulators) with the use of fuzzy controllers and neural networks;
    • creation and introduction of technical means of energy saving in the industry and municipal services on the basis of the regulated electric drive of alternating current;
    • development of an active capacity management system for production and energy processes;
    • intellectualization of technological processes in energy;
    • creation of a system for marking household electrical appliances;
    • creation of a system of national standards in the field of energy saving and energy sector.
